Description:     Nanlei is a devistatingly pretty young woman in her Hitogata form.  A creature of lithe beauty and allure, this fox turned Kitsune carries herself with a taunt, noble bearing and an aura of confidence ripples around her that is almost palpable.  Her dress is that of a fairly simple (but none the less elegant), traditional Chinese gown one would normally have only seen on empirial princesses and the like.  A silken frock, of soft primary colors woven painstakingly in to an endlessly eleborate design which appears minutely differant from whatever angle Nanlei is beheld from.  Her long, flowing black-brown hair is almost always tied back in some delicate braid, or pulled up in some way so as to keep it from her eyes.  She can also usually be found wearing at least some of the traditional costume make-up common to the Chinasia geographical region.  Her own, naturual beauty is such, however, that many have been known to gasp openly upon viewing her with her hair down, and no make-up.  She knows this well, and uses her appearance to her advantage, saving her natural comliness as something of a 'secret weapon'.

Identity:     Born to a den of fox Kinfolk amongst the vast Beast Courts of greater China, Nanlei has spent her entire life around those who change shape.  Her earliest memories revolve around regarding those who walked on four twist in to those who could walk on two.  While she spent her time chasing beetles and poucing field mice, those who stood on two legs gibbered in languages she didn't always understand and did thing she could not lacking their unique form of paws.  She greatly envied them, and while she could find no true fault with being a fox, she wanted nothing more then to stand on two legs as did the bipedals.  A want which grew so strong, that one fateful evening her dream came true.  As fate would have it, a blessing of mixed joss fell upon Nanlei and her court.  A Kumo named Daom-li, charged by the Yama King Porwo with an army of twenty bakemono, raided their den-court.  Many Hengeyokai were slaughtered, but one was reborn from their deaths.  A twisted wolf-like creature, more spirit then flesh, and more evil personified them spirit, lept on top a two-year-old, seemingly helpless fox, and thrust itself in to her.  Enraged at the violation, and hurt by the deaths of those she had grown with, Nanlei Changed and by the grace of the Court of Ancestors, was able to reach inside herself for the knowledge of how to fend the beast off.  Sensing the strumming throng of the Ancestor Spirits in the air, the bakemono army fled, leaving the lonely Kumo to defend himself against the dozen shifters that remained.  The court tanned and hung his hide in the Grand Hall.  A staunch reminder of what comes to all who deal with the Yama Kings.  Nanlei took to her new life like a fish to water.  It took her a matter of weeks to gain a firm understanding of the Gift of Mindspeech, and shortly after that the world became her oyster.  The traditions and cultures of the two-leggeds she had watched for the whole of her life became her own, and she wouldn't have it any other way.  A Kitsune 'princess' (entirely descriptory) to the core, Nanlei wishes to exume everything that is noble and auscpicous about her people.

Motivations and Goals:     To learn more about the two-legged culture she is now a part of.  To make her Ancestors proud.  To learn all the secrets and tricks of her people and use them to the best of her ability.  To be the one making important decisions, and to be a good and fair leader.  Secretly, she yearns for a way to end her loneliness.  To lead an auspicious life.

Kinfolk:     Nanlei has two fox siblings, both Kin, who have made den in the room in which she was given to make bed.  They are curious, adventurous, and playful kitlings, both a year younger then Nanlei herself.  While Nanlei's mother had died during her birth, her father had lived on to sire her siblings.  He was killed, however, in the bakemono attack that heralded her Change.  Her grandfather, a Kojin Kitsune of no small respect, has taken her under his wing.  Those three represent her Clan background, as well as her Sempai.
