What was Lucifer thinking when he fell?
Did he know the place he would land in?
And did he think that he was better off?

God, supposedly, is not a cruel god
Yet setting Satan up as a patsy and a foil
Is this not the ultimate cruelty?

To bring someone into the circle of your love
And then cast them out because you need an opposite
Why not have created him like that from the start?

Why the charade of the battle of heaven
One house set against itself
If it was such a clear cut thing, why have a battle at all?

God must have an innefable sense of humor
From the viewpoint of the universe
Existance is a cosmic joke
And humanity the punchline

Can an ant understand the outer ways of the world?
The most intelligent often go insane
Trying to make sense of this consensual reality
That we have decided to live in
And to try and understand the world and ourselves
We have to go back to the beginning

In the Beginning was the Word
What we don't understand is that the word wasn't a word
But was hysterical laughter

Now I understand why I seem to be surrounded
By a bunch of jokers
