Mythological Creatures
From the beginning of time man has been envisoning monsters and beasts. Seeing creatures that defy logic and inspire terror in even the bravest men. Some of these images were carved and painted into the walls of caves by primitive peoples. But the most well known monsters are those that were recorded in the myths and legends of the greeks, romans, and many more cultures. Civilized though they were even some of their best philosophers pondered the eixstence of such creatures.
Some were beasts, pure and simple, others were amalgamations of familiar creatures that gained the powers of the animals they were comprised of and gained a few extra attributes in the proccess. Some of these were gryphons, hippogryphs, and chimera who were feared as ememies of man. Others were more benevolent such as pegasus or the unicorns and the hippogryphs known as a symbol or sign of love.
The more horrifying were those that were once or part human. Those that had been cursed into sharing their form with that of an animal or perhaps were born with disfiguring animal features. These were the most feared for their powers were unknown and many were known to hate normal humans and would feast upon their flesh and blood.
Today these are the most loved creatures by those who read about them. Through the myths and legends these creatures have come alive and while they may no longer grace the skies or haunt the forests they are still alive if only in the imagination.
Beware, for here there be dragons, and so much more...
