We meet again
face to face
you deftly mimic
my every nuance
of expression
my every move
like an automaton
your performance
is a mockery
yet you want
so desperately
to be me
But are you naught but
a pale reflection
trapped in a
shallow crystal dream?
A transitory phantom
trick of light and
shadow?
A closer look
reveals
what you try so hard
to conceal
behind cold hard eyes
the void
the smoldering hatred
the gnawing hunger
and anticipation
Oh! What havoc
you would wreak!
What unspeakable acts
you would revel in
if only given the chance
to trade your place
for mine
exchange your face
with mine
But do I detect
a flaw
in your diguise?
A faint trace
of a mirthless smile
on an otherwise
lifeless mask?
It's no concern...
Perhaps someday
your chance may come...
But not today
