Velvet Crisis This is where the Velvet Crisis pages used to be. These pages chronicled the adventures of a shambolic and intermittently gother-than-thou band who owed more to Spinal Tap than any goth band I've ever met. Unfortunately due to a couple of coincidences in song titles a local band took offence.

I feel sorry that anyone was hurt by what was meant as innocent fun; I offered, and intended, to take down the offending references, not as an admission of guilt but as a gesture of good will.

However, a combination of Darksites losing all my images (nothing against Darksites, they provide a free service, yay them) and the trouble the whole unfortunate business caused to a close friend just caused me to lose the heart to maintain the pages. So I took them down altogether.

Unfortunately, removing the pages seems to have caused certain people to remember them in rather more highly coloured detail than they actually possessed in their short Web incarnation. I've heard various rumours, including that I 'attacked' Narcissus Pool. Since these people think my opinion is so influential, I'd like to say for the record that I wish Narcissus Pool all the best and my only argument with them is that their music's so bloody catchy.

The responses I got to the website from within the goth subculture have been overwhelmingly flattering and supportive. Thanks, guys.

I direct all those who support me in believing that goth and laughter can co-exist to the Perkygoth Manifesto, and those who are interested in the goth scene in the South West to the self-explanatorySouth West Goth pages.
