It has been brought to our attention by the custodians of Mt. Zion Community Centre that there has been a great deal of vandalism on the property. Not only was the community center broken into, it was also ransacked and a great deal of damage was done. Windows were broken and have had to be replaced and the police are now investigating and looking for those responsible.

We do not condone this kind of behavior and disrespect. This community center is a quiet, beautiful and historical building and this kind of behavior is not only unacceptable but illegal.

Be aware that this is PRIVATE PROPERTY and will be patrolled on a regular basis by the Durham Regional Police. Anyone found on the property will be charged with trespassing and be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

If you have any information about the break-ins, please notify Durham Regional Police or write to us and we will pass on the information. Help the community centre find who is responsible for this blatant disrespect for the law.

Please note that patrols by the Durham Regional Police have also been set up for Salem Cemetery.
