Hand Me Downs

Dolly Masks

Appearance: These masks look like doll faces from the early 1900's. They are made of porcelain with a single leather strap that slides over the wearers head. The face of the masks is cracked and flaking, the paint is peeling away and the hair is growing old.

Function: Whenever the child wears the mask and remains absolutely still the closet monsters cannot see them. To the monster they appear as a large old doll sitting raggedy on the bed in the corner or wherever the child happens to be. This only works on closet monsters therefore other denziens of closet land and controlled humans can see the child normally.

Movement is the ultimate downfall to this hand me down. The GM should require a spirit check to see if the child can keep from running, breaking down and trying to hide, etc. Also some closet monsters are aware of this item, this leads them to screaming at dolls and other such acts (something scary among itself).

The Rangers Compass

Appearance: An old WWII era compass. Olive drab casing, very damage resistant and compact.

Function: Outside of Closetland it acts as a normal compass. Inside it points to the nearest exit to the real world as due north.

Since it points straight at the exit there could be anything in between - walls, windows, monsters, mazes, etc. Also it doesn't show how far away it is either.

Witch's Mirror

Appearance: An old metal handled mirror. The handle and back is of ornate design containing all sorts of symbols such as pentagrams, stars, moons and such. Well over a foot long and never seems to get dirty. The mirror surface is circle shaped.

Function: Anything a child sees in the mirror is shown in its true form. Thus illusions and other deceptions are useless. Any human possessed by a King shows up with that Kings features mixed with thier own.

Rumors abound among those who have seen this item that it is also linked to the mirrors possessed by the King of Pride but the truth is unknown.
