I was surfing around DGC checking out links and seeing who had updated what on their sites... when I stumbled onto something quite unique. I was reading on the samesexmarriage.ca page about another site called soulforce. So naturally I clicked over to get the details firsthand. (which I encourage you to do too)
I will preface this with the fact that I am not a christian. Nor would I impose my faith or beliefs upon others. I believe faith is a highly personal matter. I am spiritual and do alot of reading and chatting on the different spiritual paths. I do not believe in God. I do not claim to be an expert or anything I just enjoy learning more. My personal beliefs fall in line with Zen. (which is not a spirituality, faith or religion and can be practiced by anyone in any religion)
I encourage you to take a look at the soulforce site and its message. For it is that message of understanding and peaceful resistance that I really related too. I think that people who do practice their faith regularly as well as those who dont, will find something kewl about soulforce as well. If you are of a political activist bent, you may already have heard about them. Either way I have been granted permission to quote from the soulforce site, I hope you find it as interesting and thought provoking as I did.
Cheers- DG
"Seeing Ourselves in a Whole New Way
With all the gains we have made in thirty years of activism since Stonewall, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered Americans are still second-class-citizens in our own country:
As a result, we are ten times more likely to suffer from alcohol and/or drug addiction.
Our young people are seven times more likely than their peers to commit or attempt suicide.
And the 50,000 letters we've received from people who have read my autobiography, Stranger at the Gate: To Be Gay and Christian In America, indicate that most of our sisters and brothers still live in closets of loneliness, self-hatred, guilt, and fear.
We are grateful for the progress we have made and deeply indebted to those who have led the way. But we still have a long road to travel.
Step 1 on the journey to soulforce begins when we experience the suffering but refuse to let it cripple our soul.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people often believe the untruth that they are inferior, sick and sinful, unloved by God. Real freedom begins not in the courts or the Congress. Real freedom begins in your head when you believe the truth about yourself. For many of us it means seeing ourselves in a whole new way.
Let these six Soulforce truths help set you free
Six Soulforce Beliefs About Myself
Can you affirm this Soulforce?"

My last rant was on propaganda and from before opperation iraqui freedom
The rant before that was on cycling...
