Characteristics
I have written here a list of the most common vampire characteristics. It
is a compiled collection of all that I have learned while researching the subject. It is, of course, not a complete list, but it has all of the basics.
They are night people, often on a biochemical level, producing sleep hormones in the brain at the opposite time of the day than most people do.
Drinking blood or drawing energy provides a kind of euphoria, peace, relief, relaxation and invigoration
Feel weak, shaky and very thirsty when they do not obtain and consume some form of energy
Heightened senses (improved night vision, hearing, smell, or touch) and increased speed, dexterity or strength
Increased reflectivity of the eyes in low light
Sensory extremes leave you feeling fractured (such as loud noises)
Alcohol and other drugs affect you much more or much less than a normal person
A dual personality (not relating to a mental disease) that emerges when you have a need for energy (experience very intense and passionate emotions that seem normal to you at the time)
Drawn to the vampire image/mythos (yes, most real vampires were drawn to the media vampire at a young age, and sympathized with them, along with being drawn to blood, blood drinking and bloodletting)
Migraine headaches
Various gastrointestinal sensitivities
Above-average intelligence
Moves towards an alternate religion
May have prolonged eyeteeth on bottom and/or top
Sensitivity to sunlight (cannot tan, burns)
Extremely sensitive eyes to everything from sunlight to moonlight.
Has astral dreams, frequent deja vu
They can sense others like them, and things that others cannot see
Loves rain, thunderstorms, and fog
May be bisexual or be as such without using the label. Most vampires find both sexes attractive and have no problems with guilt or any moral issues about it.
Levels of vitality go up and down repeatedly throughout the day - one second they are depressed, the next they are quite active. (moodswings, dizziness)
Unpredictable, moody, temperamental, overwhelming, intense.
Have deep, fervent, and powerful emotions.
Usually empaths, absorbing vibrations from everywhere, causing them to be emotionally unstable and often on edge - causing them to become abnormally depressed, grieved, calm, quiet, stressed or withdrawn.
They are often loners, because they feel different from those around them, and because they have to control the amount of contact they have with sources of energy.
Have a distinct feeling that they are pulling or drawing energy or emotions from other people. This includes noticing that others are often tired or depressed within their presence, a sensation of phantom tendrils or attachments, experiencing a sense of fullness, a sensation of a pressure or inward suction in the solar plexus or above the bridge of the nose, a sense of sudden elation, euphoria, or increased vigor, or an odd optical illusion that the area around you has gotten brighter, a sense of energy overload in which you need to withdraw from social situations and be alone; and lassitude, weakness and depression when you're cut off from your usual social interactions.
Have some kind of psychic ability
Having some or all of these characteristics does not always mean that you are a vampire. People will notice that you are different. Some blend in with the shadows and merely watch people. Others prefer to dive into the crowd and soak up the energy and attention. It is very difficult to determine if one is a vampire, and I ask that you do not e-mail me asking if you are one after giving me a summary of your situation. If you identify with the things I've discussed about vampirism, then I would definitely go out and do some more research on the subject. If you do not know another vampire that can confirm what you are, then it's a leap of faith. Every vampire doubts him or herself sometimes, especially if they are alone in their vampirism. But don't lose faith in what you are. If you truly believe that you are a vampire it's best not to ignore the things that make you different in an attempt to be normal. Likewise, if you truly are not a vampire, it is best not to try and push yourself to do things that you were not made to do. Please try to accept who and what you are, vampire or not. And please do not drink your own blood in an attempt at vampirism. This only weakens yourself further, because your body has to heal a wound and you have gained no real energy. The purpose of vampires is not to steal people's lives and take over humanity. Vampirism is the darker part of a psychic talent that many of us have been developing through countless lifetimes. It is only harmful if the person chooses to use it in a negative way. It may not be light, but remember: without dark, there would be no light. The universe always works towards a balance between the two.
