While some would argue that "lifestyle vampires" (who dress in a perceived "vampire" style, usually Gothic or Victorian; keep nocturnal hours; cultivate old world manners; follow an organized structure/hierarchy in organizations very similar to the Camarilla described by White Wolf; cultivate a special slang or argot that identifies oneself as a lifestyle vamp; join "clans;" take on "childer;" and otherwise live the lifestyle of a vampire, at least, as vampires are "supposed to live" according to White Wolf, anne Rice, or other popular fiction/culture) are not really vampires, I don't think that's true. If sanguinarians are apples, psi-vamps are grapes, immortal revenants are rotten bananas (not a good analogy, because bananas exist, but never mind that) and lifestylers are tomatoes, that means that there are all sorts of different fruits in the salad...but they're still fruits. The pointless bickering over who has more of a right to declare herself a "real" vampire has got to stop. It serves no purpose. What is important is whether a person is honest and true. Be who you are. Don't pretend to be anything else, even if you long to be something else. You are what you are, and the sooner you stop trying to package yourself as something you are not, the sooner you will know acceptance. Conversely, other vampires need to be more accepting of the different forms of vampirism. If more people were to actually accept the validity of psychic vampirism and lifestyle vampyrism and blood-drinking, then we wouldn't have teenyboppers pretending to be immortal because they have the idea that their own form of vampirism isn't "real" enough. Most of us are pretty accepting of all walks of life, but some factions and individuals aren't. You know who you are. Shame on you.
Anyway, here are some links for people who wish to live like vampires, dress like vampires, acquire fangs, etc.
I am trying to compile more White Wolf links for those who play Vampire: The Masquerade. If you are a GM or player or whatever and have a page dedicated to this game, tell me about it! (I will eventually dedicate an entire page to a discussion of the influence White Wolf has had on vampyre culture, but that will have to wait for a later time)

The Vampire Alliance
I list below sites belonging to people who claim to hunt vampires. I don't list Buffy the Vampyre Slayer fan pages, because those are of course pretty harmless. If I list something here, it's because I consider it dangerous to our community.
This is my plea to vampires, allies, etc: Please do NOT try to reason with these people on a BBS, to get them to accept us, or to make them appear to be wackos/idiots, or for any other reason. Not only will it not work, it will give these bigots more information about us than we want them to know. Many of them are hypocritical psychic vampires who feed off of the negative attention you give them. Do you really want to stroke their egos and make them that much stronger? Starve them. Don't give them what they want.
I personally do not feel that there is a serious threat from would-be "slayers" at this time. The posing and posturing of people who talk about weapons, ammunition, stalking tactics, etc are just ways to live in a self-generated fantasy world. These people are like the youngsters who swear up and down that they were "embraced" a few years ago and now can only live on blood, will die if left in the sun, etc. It's wish fulfillment. However, there is a definite danger from Neo-Nazi type skinheads, Klansmen, and other right-wing nuts who commit hate crimes against Goths and people who look or are known to be "different." Many of us have already had bad encounters with these bigots. The right wing militia movements of America do have access to armaments, and street gangs and other groups can easily obtain guns. These people are a threat. Finally, the "wannabe" slayers mentioned above may turn into militia types when they get a little older and have enough money to buy a gun and ammo. Therefore, they need to be monitored. We do not know the extent of the threat that hunters pose, and we cannot afford to ignore them.
Let paranoia be tempered with common sense...but a sensible vampire or vampire-lover would be wise to watch his back.
Chris Light's Vampire Hunters Message Board
The address for this BBS seems to have moved. But I found it. Do you know how many search engines I had to go through??? There's a lot of fluff on this board, but every now and then one can pick up some useful information on the really worrisome people. Like this psycho...
"Rut" (real name unknown, suspected to be Jason)
Sean Manchester (London, England)
David Farrant (England)
Tex Bernhardt
A quote from Tex: "Most vampires are female"
This man is dangerous. On his page, he talks about a "kill" he made...
Bipolar disorder (manic-depression)
These people have achieved some renown both on and off the internet, and so I list them in a special section before I go on to the general vampire resources. They are largely responsible for the perception and definition of the "modern vampire." I don't agree with all of their viewpoints, nor do they agree with each other, but they must be listed here simply because of who they are.
